The Best Things in my Brain, April 2026
I’ve always been a person who loves to learn and find new things and share them with others, but these things don’t always warrant a full blog or social media post. So I’m offering a once a month, short and sweet post on the best things I learned, read, heard, or saw recently.
I’ve been working on a secret project lately that involves knitting a lot of swatches, which I don’t love doing at my desk. Staff kitty Yuna has been enjoying that I’ve been relocating to work from a place where she can more easily sit in my lap!
I’ve got a double helping of Best Things this month because a lot of really interesting things have popped into my feed lately and I don’t want to wait to share.
Best Things in my Brain, Craft Edition
This is a stunningly beautiful essay on Art as a Way Through Illness and Grief (and the photos of the author’s artwork are amazing).
I love Angie at Transcend Furniture Gallery, and she’s got a very useful video up with some tips on ways to fix common problems with worn furniture (as someone who is in the process of acquiring some older pieces of furniture from family, I’ve saved this to help me restore the pieces).
Best Things in my Brain, Non-Craft Edition
Karolina Zebrowska is probably familiar to many of you but she’s been posting some really good videos lately. I particularly loved this thorough dismantling of the “jokes” around women not working before feminism.
Another of my favorite historical fashion YouTubers, Nicole Rudolph, is renovating her house and has been doing some really interesting videos exploring the history of home décor and homemaking. This recent one, on the origins of Western culture’s obsession with a perfectly clean home (and shame over not having one) was pretty eye-opening.
