Simple Joys of Knitting No. 2

Sketch titled "Simple Joys of Knitting No. 2" featuring a hand casting on to two needles simultaneously, followed by an arrow and a toe-up sock toe, captioned "When Judy's Magic Cast on Turns Into a Sock Toe"

Granted, I don’t knit toe-up socks as often as I knit cuff down pairs, but am I the only person who never thinks Judy’s Magic Cast-on is going to work even though I’ve done it at least half a dozen times now? It seems like the entire thing is going to unravel right up until there’s a sock toe on your needles.

My go-to tutorial for this cast-on is, as always, at Knitty.
